Mike Moustakas creating trade interest in the MLB

–¬† The Kanas City Royals are fielding calls from three other teams questioning if third baseman and former prospect Mike Moustakas is available. According to Tyler Drenon of SB Nation, the Royals and their general manager Dayton Moore “still believe” in Moustakas. They have also reiterated that if a trade offer with substance would come along and help the Royals right now, he would consider it.

Moustakas demotion by the Kansas City Royals has generated some interests amongst other MLB teams and could develop into more teams interested in his acquisition. Although the Royals are acting on prudence with Moustakas, New York Post, Joel Sherman is reporting that trade rumors are developing in the third baseman.

Moustakas who’s 25 years-old and first-round draft pick, had a successful career with the Royals Triple-A affiliate team in Omaha where he compiled a batting average of .290, an on-base percentage of .331 and a slugging percentage of .531. He also hit 25 home-runs and pushed 92 runners at the plate. Sherman states in his report a change of scenery might be quite beneficial for the slugger.

With the Royals, Moustakas has just batted for an average .236, an on-base percentage of .290 with a slugging percentage of .379. Known to take their time with their prospects, the Royals may be at the end or near the end of their union with Mike Moustakas. The Royals who have been promoting Moustakas as the face of the whether on TV commercials or on billboards may have to do some changes before the season’s end.

With the Royals in a position to challenge the Detroit Tigers, the Royals may have no choice to package Moustakas in order to get someone who can help them right now. Moustakas this year has compiled a batting average of only .152 in 40 appearances at the plate. He has hit 4 homers with 17 runs batted-in with on-base percentage of .223 and a slugging percentage of .320.
