The Los Angeles made a decision with regards to the status of Mike Richards. After trying to trade him unsuccessfully, the Kings placed Richards on unconditional waivers fr the purpose of bying him out, Sunday in preparation to the free agency period commencing on Wednesday. Richards has five years remaining on his contract at a cap hit of $5.75M a year.
In 2014-2015, Mike Richards scored five goals and assisted on 11 others for 16 points. Richards who had his best years while with the Flyers saw his ice considerably diminished heading into last year’s playoff when the Kings won the Stanley Cup. He ended up being on the fourth line and was a healthy scratch on a few occasions. This past season saw Richards being sent to the AHL Manchester Monarchs the AHL affiliate team for the Kings.
Montreal to buyout P-A Parenteau
Parenteau placed on unconditional waivers
The Montreal Canadiens have ct ties with P-A Parenteau on Sunday by placing him on unconditional waivers as well for the purpose of buying him out. Montreal acquired Parenteau from the Colorado Avalanche last summer for forward Daniel Brière. In 2014-201, Parenteau cored 8 goals and assisted on 14 others for a 22 points total. He played in 56 games and missed a considerable amount of games due to concussion.
Parenteau had one year left on his contract worth $4.0M. Buying him out will incur a cap hit of 1.3M for the next two years on the Montreal Canadiens payroll.
Fistric also on waivers for the Ducks
The Anaheim Ducks also placed defenceman Mark Fistric on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying him out. Fistric, 29, will receive $450,000 each of the next four seasons from the Ducks. His buyout cap penalty for Anaheim will be $408,000 – significantly less than the $1.26 million it would’ve been the next two seasons.
In 2014-2015, Fistric had no points in only 9 games played. In 2013-2014, Fistric netted one goal and four assists in only 34 games.
Clune placed on waivers by the Predators
The Nashville Predators who have also intended to buy out left winger Richard Clune has cleared waivers and will be bought out. Clune played sporadically for the Predators playing in only one game in 2014-2015 and in 58 games in 2013-2014 where he recorded 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points.
Teams have until Tuesday to complete their buyouts. One other player, Sam Gagner with the Flyers may be bought out before the deadline.
