A veteran of ten seasons in the NHL, the Oilers are acquiring some depth forward to support their top two lines in Roy. A long time Buffalo Sabres, Derek Roy only had 1 goal and nine assists this season with the Predators. He quickly picked up his first point yesterday against the Kings with an assist. Roy was drafted in the second round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft 32nd overall by the Sabres. Marco Arcobello, this season had 7 goals and 5 assists for 12 points in 36 games played. He was a minus -7 this season on a last place team in the NHL. Matt Fraser claimed by the Oilers

The Oilers were also very active on Monday claiming Red Deer, AB, native Matt Fraser from the Boston Bruins who put him on waiver earlier in the day.  Fraser who had 3 goals in 24 games for the Bruins this year will add depth for the Oilers on their fourth line. Signed by Dallas originally in 201, he came to Boston in the trade that sent Tyler Seguin to Dallas in 2012.

Dany Heatly sent to the minors.

Time has caught up with forward Dany Heatly. Once a 50 goal scorer on two different seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Heatly didn’t seem to fit in with the Anaheim Ducks who gave him a contract of one year for one million. He was sent to their AHL Norfolk affiliate team, once he cleared waivers on Tuesday.  Heatly who was injured most of this season had no points for the Ducks. In twelve seasons, Heatly who original was drafted by the Atlanta Trashers in 2000, second overall has accumulated in his career 372 goals, 419 assists for 791 points in 869 games played.
